Go Ahead and Jump Anyway!

-->

Jump!

I am afraid.

I am afraid to jump.

I do it though. I do it anyway. Despite my fear of heights and depths. Despite my fear of drowning. Of getting caught on the rocks on the way down. I just jump anyway. I have the courage to jump because I have faith. I have hope. That no matter what, God will catch me. No matter what, His plans will prevail.

Someone once asked, said to me, if you are so faithful, why are you so afraid? Don’t you think God has you in the palm of his hands. Don’t you believe he is in charge of your life and death?

Yes, I believe. So I jump. I jump into things I am afraid of…of writing…of putting myself out there. Of sounding foolish or ignorant or meaningless or unimportant. I jump because I believe we should. Shouldn’t we?

Isn’t that what we’re here for? To Jump? To forge a new path? To not play is safe, but to do things despite our fear. Perfect love casts out fear. He is perfect He is love. His love casts out fear.

Every day, I am afraid if the little things that lie ahead. The day, the week, the moment , the year, the life.

I’m afraid of what’s next. I’m afraid of what I’ve left behind, But I jump anyway.

I’m jumping ahead…I guess not to is to die. I look at the beautiful young girl in my living room. right now at the desk. The desk that will be empty next fall.

Amelia will be off.

Jump Amelia Jump! If I can do it, you can. I’m afraid too. Let’s jump together!

“Write like you used to run. For the pure joy of it.”

  4. I think this is something almost all of us can relate to!
    "I'm jumping ahead, I guess not to is to die." It is true, if we are not growing, seeking new things, and venturing, than we are going backwards. Prayers for you and Amelia!

  6. I think we are "inherently" fearful because we are mothers and wives and daughters and best friends. There's so much on the line as we live our lives. I think those scary "what if" thoughts are part of the process that we go through because deep in inside we inherently feel the need/desire to hold and keep everything/everyone in our lives complete, whole and safe.

    Thanks for stopping by my "place" today and I surely hope that you will visit often.

    1. I agree Dina...There is much at stake as moms, wives, friends. But we do have a God we can trust and that's what I have to come back to when I am afraid, but feel God is calling me to something. And not knowing what lies ahead, well that is unsettling. But God can turn uncertainty into an adventure. That's what I'm counting on!!
